Durigan: I will remain at the president's disposal to continue this work

When asked whether he would remain Minister of Finance in a possible re-election of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), Dario Durigan pointed out that this is not a question to be directed to him, but rather to the president.

However, he signaled that "I will remain at the president's disposal to continue this work."

"I believe that we can build a country project to improve Brazil", pondered the minister.

Durigan was the executive secretary, Fernando Haddad's "number 2" in the portfolio until the beginning of this year.

Haddad resigned as minister with the speech that he would "help" Lula's campaign. In March, the PT member was launched as a pre-candidate for the government of São Paulo, with the mission of consolidating a platform for the president in the state.

Durigan has served as executive secretary of the department since June 2023. Before going to Esplanada dos Ministérios, he worked as director of Public Policies at WhatsApp, between 2020 and 2023.

From 2017 to 2019, Durigan served as legal advisor to the Union in São Paulo. During this period, he founded the Arbitration Center of the AGU (Attorney General of the Union). A lawyer by training, the now Minister of Finance also has a master's degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Brasília.

Dario Durigan already worked with Fernando Haddad before the Ministry of Finance, when the PT member was mayor of São Paulo.

Between 2015 and 2016, the former secretary worked to advise the mayor on strategic issues, inter-secretariat coordination and dialogue with the City Council. During the period, he was also a board member of the public company SPUrbanismo.

In Brasília, during the administration of former president Dilma Rousseff (PT), Durigan worked in the sub-chief for Legal Affairs of the Civil House, where he worked in coordination with the National Congress and provided advice on strategic infrastructure issues. He remained in the role from 2011 to 2025.

At the Attorney General's Office, Durigan worked in the office of the Attorney General of the Union in drafting internal normative acts between 2010 and 2011.

From 2009 to 2010, he was a prosecutor at the University of São Paulo. In the private sector, he worked in the corporate area of Pinheiro Neto Advogados (2005 - 2007).
