Durigan: I must speak to the president soon about Copom nominations

The federal government wants to accelerate the restoration of open vacancies at the BC (Central Bank), said the Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, in an interview with CNN Brasil, this Thursday (21).

According to him, the conversation with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) about nominations for vacant directorships of the monetary authority should take place "soon".

Durigan said he would not like further delays in the process and defended that the Copom (Monetary Policy Committee) returns to functioning "in full".

The minister also stated that economic issues need to have political "shielding" and highlighted that the final decision on the names rests with the President of the Republic, in dialogue with the president of the BC, Gabriel Galípolo.
