Durigan calls for an immediate end to the 6×1 scale in a speech at the Council

The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, stated this Wednesday (10) that the debate on the end of the 6x1 work schedule should move forward "immediately" in the country. Currently, the proposal is being processed in the Senate, and the president of the House, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), shows no signs that it will give the traction desired by Palácio do Planalto.

"It is important for us to generate employment, value work, value the minimum wage and open productivity gains. Therefore, it is important for us to move forward with the end of the 6×1 scale immediately in the country", said Durigan, during the opening speech of the 7th meeting of the CDESS (Council for Economic, Social and Sustainable Development), known as "Conselhão", held at the Itamaraty Palace.

Durigan also said that discussing the reduction of working hours means facing an issue of "inequality in the world of work".

"Those on the 6×1 scale are those with the lowest pay and who accumulate working hours", he commented.

The minister also said that Brazilian workers are under pressure to guarantee productivity, highlighting the importance of increasing weekly rest.

"We know the pressure that our male and female workers have to be more efficient, to stay engaged in a continuous and uninterrupted manner", he says.
