On the afternoon of last Thursday (25), Corinthians hosted Flamengo, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, in a match valid for the 18th round of the first phase of the 2026 Brazilian Under-20 Championship, and drew 2 x 2. The result caused the Corinthians team to fall from sixth to eighth place - still within the classification zone with 29 points - eight wins, five draws and five defeats - 31 goals scored and 24 conceded.
Equality moved the Alvinegro Under-20 team's artillery ranking in 2026. Defender Yago Melo, in the 13th minute of the first half, applied the famous 'ex law', as he was hired from Rubro-Negro at the beginning of this year. After a deflected cross, he was well positioned inside the small area and headed firmly to score his second goal in 12 games this season. The defender joined Lorenzo and Joãozinho on the list.

It is worth remembering that Filhos do Terrão's top-3 scorers are: Luiz Fernando (12); Luiz Gustavo Bahia and Iago Machado (4); and Luiz Fábio 'Favela' (3). Striker Nicolas Araújo, in turn, became disenchanted after just over a year. In his tenth game of the season, he scored for the first time and was responsible for tying the game and putting Alvinegro back within the Brasileirão U20 classification zone.
The goal came in the 40th minute of the final stage, when Flamengo was winning the match 2 x 1. Araújo received a beautiful pass from Luiz Fernando 'Luizinho', who made an individual play inside and only allowed the number 23 to dominate and finish in the corner of the Flamengo goalkeeper. The young man joined Guilherme Pires, Guilherme Pellegrin, Nicollas, Gui Amorim, Christian, Gustavo Corrêa, Levy Dias and Cauã Ribeiro, all with one goal each.
Corinthians will return to the field for the national competition next Wednesday (1), at 3pm (Brasília time), when they will face Juventude, away from home, in the final round of the classification phase. A simple victory keeps Timão within the G8. A draw or defeat could eliminate the Parque São Jorge club, depending on a combination of results. The team from Rio Grande do Sul comes into the match fighting against relegation and also needs the three points.
Before that, however, Corinthians will have a classic in the Campeonato Paulista U20. Next Sunday (28), at 3pm, Timãozinho will visit Santos, for the third round of the first phase of the state championship. Alvinegro won the first two matches, against Mirassol and Portuguesa Santista, by 1 x 0 and 2 x 0, respectively.
