Dongfeng will have a battery with a range of more than 1,000 km in 2027
Dongfeng Motor revealed that it is preparing for mass production of a battery that can exceed 1,000 km in range. The battery has an energy density of 350 Wh/kg.
Unlike conventional liquid lithium-ion batteries, which rely on liquid electrolytes that pose fire risks during collisions or overheating, Dongfeng's solid-state battery replaces them with a solid electrolyte.
The technology also promises advances in safety and weight reduction compared to current lithium-ion batteries. The changes reduce the risk of combustion and explosions.
The battery was tested under different conditions. Among them, evaluations in extreme temperatures in the city of Mohe, in northern China, where thermometers can reach -30°C.
The company also claims that the system withstood temperature tests of up to 170°C, above the requirements established by Chinese standards for this type of component.
