Doctor and former BBB receives punishment from CFM for violating code of ethics

Doctor Marcos Harter received punishment from the CFM (Federal Council of Medicine) for inferring rules from the Medical Ethics Council involving the relationship and care with his patients. The decision was published this Thursday (21) in the DOU (Official Gazette of the Union).

Marcos became famous in Brazil after participating in the reality show "Big Brother Brasil 2017" and being expelled for attacking Emily Araújo, with whom he had an affair. Soon after, he was runner-up in the reality show "A Fazenda 9".

According to the CFM decision, the doctor would have been disrespectful and caused harm to patients, violating the following codes set out in the Council:

- Art. 32. Fail to use all available means of promoting health and preventing, diagnosing and treating diseases, scientifically recognized and within reach, in favor of the patient.
- Art. 23. Treating human beings without civility or consideration, disrespecting their dignity or discriminating against them in any way or under any pretext.
- Art. 1. Causing harm to the patient, by action or omission, characterized as malpractice, imprudence or negligence.

Initially, the conviction provided for the suspension of his professional practice, but, by unanimous decision, it was reverted to "Public Censorship" and therefore ended up being prescribed in the DOU.

The document, however, does not exemplify the case that would have led to punishment. When contacted, the CFM informed that the process must be processed in procedural secrecy.
