José Lúcio Batista, from Uberaba (MG), sent a letter to Globo Rural asking about yam, a plant that is also known as yam.
For those who don't know, yam is a PANC (Non-Conventional Food Plant) and belongs to the same family as traditional yams. The species has aroused the interest of producers and consumers due to its food potential and different forms of cultivation.
To help those who want to know more about the culture, the Agricultural Research Company of Minas Gerais (Epamig) provides a booklet dedicated to the topic. The material brings together information about planting, the care required during cultivation and the main pests and diseases that can affect the plant.
