Federal government announces new phase of Desenrola, debt renegotiation program
Jornal Nacional/ Reproduction
Whoever joins Desenrola Adimplentes, launched this Monday (29), will have their CPF blocked on betting platforms (bets) for six months. The same rule applies to participants in Fies Empreendedor, another line of credit announced at the same event, at Palácio do Planalto.
"Beneficiaries of Desenrola Adimplentes and Fies Empreendedor will accept in return the blocking of the CPF on betting platforms for six months", informed the finance minister, Dario Durigan.
The requirement is a way of trying to prevent the cheaper credit offered by the program from being used in online betting - an activity that has worried the government due to its impact on debt of Brazilian families.

How the block works
The block will be automatic for those who join the new credit lines and will prevent access to betting platforms regulated in the country for a period of six months. The measure affects both informal workers who renegotiate debts through Desenrola Adimplentes and Fies alumni who seek credit to start a business.
Who can join
Desenrola Adimplentes is aimed at those who are not yet in default, but pay high interest on financing. The focus is on informal workers - who do not have access to the CLT, public servant or INSS payroll - and students with Fies credit who want to undertake.
The expectation is to reach up to 500 thousand informal workers and 100 thousand people from Fies. The renegotiation applies to Non-Consigned Personal Credit, with a balance of up to R$15,000, at least four installments already paid and a maximum of 90 days late. The maximum rate will be 1.99% per month.
For Fies students, interest can reach 11% per year (0.87% per month), with a limit of R$180,000 for legal entities and R$80,000 for individuals.
Where to look
The credit lines will initially be available at Caixa Econômica Federal and Banco do Brasil. Private banks will still decide whether or not to adhere to the conditions. Read more here.
