Deolane Bezerra was arrested on Thursday (21) during a police operation in São Paulo. In an interview with CNN 360° during the week, Lincoln Gakiya, prosecutor of the MPSP (Public Ministry of São Paulo), detailed the investigation and stated that the influencer has been involved in laundering money from organized crime since at least 2022.

According to the prosecutor of GAECO (Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime), the operation had been planned for some time and involved international dimensions.

There was information that Deolane was in Italy, while another person under investigation, Paloma Ervas Camacho, niece of Marcos Willians Herbas Camacho, known as Marcola, was in Madrid.

A third party being investigated was in Bolivia. "We would even arrest Deolane here today, at the start of the operation, to be carried out simultaneously in Brazil and also in Spain and Italy", explained Gakiya, who was in Rome at the time of the interview. However, Deolane anticipated his return to Brazil, which led the authorities to wait for his arrival to execute the warrants.

According to Gakyia, Deolane Bezerra represents a "new face of the PCC". He explained the concept. "She is not a baptized member of the PCC, but she is a fundamental player for the faction and for faction leaders to use these people to launder money [...] In her case [Deolane], private accounts were used illegally to hide money", highlighted Gakyia.

Connection with the Camacho family and the PCC
Gakiya revealed that Deolane was already known to the authorities before becoming famous on social media. "Deolane was already known to us before her fame, she advocated for PCC prisoners in the interior of São Paulo, including extremely dangerous prisoners, who were serving sentences in Penitentiary 2 of Presidente Venceslau", he stated. According to him, she even married one of the inmates, a member of the PCC.

The investigation began with the seizure of a note in Penitentiary 2 of Presidente Venceslau, which contained information about prison officers and directors who would be murdered.

Based on this material, authorities arrived at a transport company set up on land near the penitentiary where Marcola was with his brother Alejandro Camacho, called "Transportadora Lado a Lado". Investigations proved that the enterprise was linked to Marcola and Alejandro. A couple used as "orange" in the carrier's society has already been convicted with a final and unappealable sentence.

Deolane accounts used to launder money
According to Gakiya, the cell phone of one of the transport company's orange partners contained information about money transfers made to the Camacho family. "Deolane's personal accounts were indicated by Everton de Souza, who is one of the defendants arrested in the operation, and who was the person who operated the financial part, both of Marcola and his brother, Alejandro, to receive payment of resources arising from the Camacho brothers' money laundering", he detailed.

According to him, "there is a direct connection between Deolane and the Camacho family, especially with regard to money laundering."

Gakiya added that, in two years, Deolane's accounts moved R$140 million, without any proof of services provided that would justify this amount. "There's a lot of undeclared income, it's the dispersion of money across several legal entity accounts," he said.

To disguise the origin of the resources, Deolane would have opened 35 companies in Martinópolis (SP), a municipality close to Presidente Prudente (SP), all registered at a false address in a low-income housing complex, in addition to another 15 companies in Santo Anastácio (SP) and more projects in the region of Ribeirão Preto (SP).

Prison maintained and next steps
After a custody hearing held on the same day, the court maintained the preventive detention of Deolane Bezerra. Gakiya informed that the investigation has already been concluded and that, within a few days, the Public Prosecutor's Office should file a complaint against the influencer and the others involved, continuing the criminal action.

When asked about the ability of organized crime leaders to communicate from inside prisons, Gakiya acknowledged that this is a challenge not exclusive to Brazil. "I'm in Italy, actually participating in meetings with Italian and European anti-mafia prosecutors," he said, highlighting that communication between prisoners and their families and lawyers is a constitutional provision.

According to him, authorities try to monitor these communications and have achieved some success, highlighting the importance of integrated work between the Civil Police, Criminal Police and Public Prosecutor's Office.
