Delcy Rodríguez visits La Guaira, the region most affected by the earthquakes

The interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, visited this Thursday (25) the state of La Guaira, the region most affected by the strong earthquakes that hit the country on Wednesday (24), the Presidency said in a statement.

Rodríguez led a meeting with authorities in La Guaira to assess the situation and reinforce that the priority "is focused on accelerating operational decision-making in order to protect the lives of the population and provide assistance to affected families", according to the statement.

The Minister of the Interior, Diosdado Cabello, the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, and commanders of the Armed Forces also participated in the meeting.

"As part of the multisectoral contingency plan, authorities determined the mobilization of heavy machinery and the priority distribution of essential items such as drinking water, food, mattresses and blankets to those affected. Rescue, risk management and social assistance teams remain mobilized on site under a unified coordination scheme to ensure the protection of the population of La Guaira during this emergency," the statement says.
