Defeat to Umuarama leaves Corinthians close to the LNF relegation zone

Last Saturday, Corinthians traveled to Paraná to face Umuarama in the National Futsal League (LNF). The black and white team ended up defeated 1-0 and once again turned on the warning signal in the competition, as they continue to fight to distance themselves from the bottom of the table.

In the previous round, Timão had achieved an important 3-1 victory over Tubarão Futsal, a result that provided momentary relief to the club. The victory took the team from the bottom of the table and placed it in the playoff zone. However, the setback against Umuarama made the scenario change again.

With just two wins in 11 matches played, Corinthians appears in 13th place, with eight points. The team has the same score as São José, which occupies 14th place, and is just one point ahead of Marreco and Santo André, currently last placed in the tournament.

Although São José and Marreco have already fulfilled their commitments in the round and cannot surpass Corinthians at this moment, Santo André can still change the black and white club's situation in the classification.

The ABC Paulista team only takes the court on Monday. If they manage to defeat Joinville, they will reach the same points as Timão and leave them in 14th place, a bracket that entitles them to the playoff to remain in the LNF elite - click here to access the table.

It is worth remembering that the relegation and repechage system is a new feature adopted by the National Futsal League this season. The last two placed at the end of the first phase, that is, the teams that finish 15th and 16th, will be directly relegated. The club that ends the competition in 14th place will compete in a round-trip clash against the third-placed team in LNF Silver, a division equivalent to Serie B in national futsal.

Corinthians will have the opportunity to react next Friday, the 10th, at 7:30 pm. For the 12th round of the competition, the team hosts Minas at Ginásio Wlamir Marques, in Fazendinha, looking for a positive result to move away from the bottom of the table again.
