Journalist Décio Piccinini, 80, detailed what it was like to experience the death of his first wife and find her lifeless in the couple's bed. He recalled what happened during his participation in the Intervenção podcast.

Heloísa Martins, with whom he celebrated his first marriage, died in 1989. Décio Piccinini explains that the situation affected his mental health and, after the incident, he had to deal with intense anxiety attacks.

"Whenever I sat on the bed, when I lay down after her, there would be some movement from her, even if unconscious. That night, nothing happened. I thought: 'What is happening?' When I turned on the light, her eye was open, and I realized what had happened", recalled the journalist.

She also explained that the trauma caused him to experience difficult times in the years following his wife's death. "I spent four and a half years as a widow, completely crazy. I did every stupid thing, every crazy thing", he revealed.

Despite the complicated phase, he stated that he managed to overcome the situation. "With the help of friends, relatives and some doctors, I managed to recover."

Décio also reiterated the importance of having professional follow-up: "I gave my psychiatrist a lot of work. But I found one who stayed with me for many years."

What helped him move forward was also thinking about his children, who at the time were 7 and 13 years old. "I didn't want to live anymore, but I asked myself: 'And who raises my children?'".
