Danish Christian Eriksen faints in a match against Ukraine; player already needed to be resuscitated during a game in 2021

The Danish player, Christian Eriksen, fell unconscious during the friendly against Ukraine this Sunday (7). This was not the first time that the athlete had health problems on the field - in June 2021, Eriksen fell during a game for his national team and needed a defibrillator to wake up.

"Christian Eriksen is conscious and is doing well under the circumstances", stated the entity in a message on X, adding that the friendly match was interrupted.
This Sunday's episode marked the second time that the 34-year-old midfielder collapsed on the pitch defending his country's national team.
In 2021, he collapsed during Denmark's debut match in the group stage of the European Cup, against Finland, in Copenhagen.
On that occasion, Eriksen received cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers that saved his life and, subsequently, began using an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), a device capable of monitoring and correcting serious changes in rhythm cardiac. After that, he managed to resume his career with both clubs and the national team.

This Sunday, Danish football experienced a distressing feeling of déjà vu. Broadcast footage showed Eriksen clutching his chest before collapsing to the pitch 20 minutes into the second half. The stadium was filled with apprehension as fans realized who the fallen player was.
"There was a throw-in, I went to the touchline and when I turned around I saw Christian falling. We know a little about how he reacts and what that could mean," Denmark captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg told Danish broadcaster TV2.
"Everyone reacted very quickly and with respect. I can only praise the courage of the people who took care of Christian in field. It's a shock for everyone, but the most important thing is that he's fine."
Just as happened at the 2021 Euro Cup, when players from Denmark and Finland surrounded Eriksen to preserve his privacy while he received medical care, Danish and Ukrainian athletes quickly formed a circle around the player this Sunday. After treatment, he was able to walk to the ambulance.
"Christian is fine and left the field walking under his own power. From what I could see, the pacemaker is working as it should. He lost consciousness for a brief moment, but recovered very quickly and we were able to speak to him shortly afterwards," Danish team doctor Morten Boesen told the local press.
"He will now undergo more detailed examinations at the hospital to determine the cause of the incident. We are in constant contact with him and with the responsible doctors. Christian is fine and asked me to tell the players that everything is ok."
Neither Denmark nor Ukraine managed to qualify for this year's World Cup. At the time of the interruption, the Danish team was winning the match 2-1.

After the game was suspended, players and members of the technical committees of the two teams gathered in a circle on the pitch. Denmark coach Brian Riemer thanked everyone for their attitude and solidarity.
"The most important thing is that Christian is fine. He left the field and sent a message to his teammates," said Riemer.
"Now is the time to stand together, as we showed in the most dignified way possible on the field. We need to move forward together and ensure that everyone has support at this time."
