Cuca praises Neymar in the National Team: "He didn't deserve to be left out of the World Cup"

Santos coach, Cuca commented on Neymar's call-up to defend the Brazilian team in the World Cup and the player's impact on the club and vice versa. The coach made a point of praising the Santos number 10.

Neymar was the big unknown in Ancelotti's squad after a long period away from the national team due to physical problems. He recovered in recent months and managed to have a good run of games, convincing the Italian.

"We were able to have a player of his level in the Seleção, and I would venture to say that we had direct participation in this, as he had pleasure in playing, in having a sequence of games. We are very happy. Santos has a player who went to the Seleção, and a guy who, for everything he did for football, did not deserve to be left out of this World Cup. He can still help a lot, on and off the field, such is his size", declared the coach.

When asked if there isn't too much focus on Neymar at Santos, which could hinder the team, Cuca disagreed and assured that there are no privileges for the number 10.

"Neymar doesn't prioritize anything, arriving on time for training, he has the same tasks as everyone else, he does everything the same as everyone else. I have nothing to complain about," he said.

The statements came after Santos' 3-2 defeat to Grêmio in Rio Grande do Sul, in the Brazilian Championship. Neymar was not in action due to a minor injury. The result took the team to the relegation zone.
