The Crown Princess of Norway, Mette-Marit, has been placed on a waiting list for a lung transplant, according to a statement from the Norwegian Royal House released this Friday (5). According to the document, the measure was taken after a further worsening of his health condition.

Mette-Marit, 52 years old, wife of Crown Prince Haakon, successor to the throne of Norway, was diagnosed in 2018 with pulmonary fibrosis. The disease, which is chronic, causes scars in the lungs and reduces the ability to absorb oxygen.
In December, Oslo University Hospital reported that the time was approaching when a transplant would be necessary, but that the princess had not yet been included on the Norwegian list of possible lung recipients.

Files released by the United States Department of Justice at the beginning of the year show frequent contact between Mette-Marit and billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, years after he pleaded guilty in 2008 to enticing a minor.
According to the documents, the princess maintained contact with Epstein from 2011 to 2014 and stayed at his home in Palm Beach for four days during a private trip in 2013.
After the disclosure, the crown princess stated that she was "manipulated and deceived" by the financier.
In an interview with public broadcaster NRK, the princess said she regrets her friendship with Epstein and regretted getting close to him.
"I was manipulated and deceived. Of course I wish I had never met him," she said.
