Cristiano Ronaldo sees Portugal strong in their sixth World Cup

Star Cristiano Ronaldo spoke about Portugal's participation in this edition of the World Cup. The star was asked if the Portuguese team is one of the candidates for the tournament title.

The Portuguese striker highlighted the quality of the Portugal team, showing confidence in the squad led by Spanish coach Roberto Martínez.

"We will only know at the end (if Portugal is a candidate for the title). It's a very good generation, but there are factors that we can't control, like the games, winning or not winning, is the most important point. I believe it's a generation that will bring a lot of joy to the Portuguese", said Cristiano Ronaldo.

The player praised the Portuguese's preparation for the World Cup. The Portuguese team debuts in the World Cup on Wednesday (17), against DR Congo. Group K also includes Uzbekistan and Colombia.

"It was tiring, because we worked hard. In the (preparatory) games, victories prevailed, but the most important thing is when the ball starts rolling on the 17th, in the first game. Then, when things start to tighten up, that's when we will see the real champions. It will depend on many factors, I am very positive that things will go well", he continued.

"The important thing is to come first in the group, then it's game by game, step by step, calmly, gaining confidence and getting into the rhythm", he taught.

Cristiano Ronaldo assured that he is in excellent physical condition to compete in the last World Cup of his victorious career.

"With great joy, we know that the World Cup is always a special competition, just like the European Championship, we are going with a lot of hope. Physically? I'm fine, haven't you seen the games?", he asked a reporter.
