Creator comments on the next steps of the SAFIEL project petition

Last Saturday (27), the creators of SAFIEL, a group that proposes the transformation of Corinthians into Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF), raising at least R$2.5 billion and enabling fans to participate through the sale of shares, held an event attended by influencers and journalists to engage the SAFIEL JÁ movement.

The action aims to gather as many signatures as possible from fans who support the non-binding proposal, which was even sent to the administration of President Osmar Stabile. In the proposal, Invasão Fiel S.A., the company that created the project, argues that Corinthians' financial and institutional framework requires priority and immediate assessment of the matter by the club's competent bodies. The document emphasizes that Timão's total debt already exceeds R$2.8 billion and is structural and growing, consuming approximately 40% of annual recurring revenue just through interest payments.

In an exclusive interview with Central do Timão, one of the project's creators, Maurício Chamatti, commented on the next steps in relation to the petition and stated that he was satisfied with the engagement so far. He also recalled the meetings the group had with Leonardo Pantaleão and Romeu Tuma Jr, president of the Ethics Committee and the Deliberative Council, respectively.

"I think we are really enjoying the result, we have 70 thousand signatures, we are now looking for 100 thousand. We have two weeks or so since we launched, so trying to reach 100 thousand I think is the ultimate goal of what we set out to do. We are always open to listening to the club. Pantaleão opened the door, Tuma has already opened the door, Osmar (Stabile) spoke once, but we hope that 100 thousand will be Yes, enough. In the last election we had 3 thousand people voting, I think 100 thousand is at least 33 times the number of people who voted in the election, so it's a significant number that should be respected by whoever runs Corinthians, especially a democracy team", he said.

Later, Chamatti explained why the proposal given to Corinthians was non-binding, that is, it did not oblige the club to actually carry out the operation. He highlights the importance of Alvinegro's signature so that SAFIEL goes to the market in search of raising the money initially proposed and, therefore, for the institution's debts to be paid off.

"It's actually non-binding. What does that mean? The club has no commitment. We've already heard, you can raise a fund to capture this money without purpose, yes, but we need the banks to get involved to help with this fundraising, it's not a small fundraising. So, the banks to engage, approach customers, bring the Corinthians money to contribute, it's two and a half billion that we're looking for, so we need Corinthians to authorize it, and the banks need it. But it's non-binding, because from the moment we bring this, we'll take it to the club and then they'll accept it."

"What is described there is a confusing reading, it is very much that if the project moves forward, this is what will happen, if it is accepted at the moment. The only thing we are asking for, there is no trick, we work a lot with transparency, so whoever is talking has a trick of having something binding, there is no such thing. What is being done there is a request to authorize us to authorize banks, for example, to do this funding and after that, valuation, several other things will be discussed. in the second moment. I understand that Parque São Jorge, which manages my reading, already understands this, the problem is that if we raise the money it becomes very difficult to hold. So, they don't even want to take that step, because if we arrive with two and a half billion, resolve the debt, resolve everything, bring governance, then it will be more difficult to insure than it is today", he concluded.
