CRB players avoid cards, and president calls judge "lazy"

An unusual scene marked CRB's 4-2 victory over Ponte Preta, in Series B of the Brazilian Championship. After one of the Alagoas team's goals, players from the bench invaded the pitch to celebrate and some tried to escape punishment from referee Wagner do Nascimento Magalhães by hiding behind advertising boards at the Rei Pelé Stadium.

The attempt, however, was unsuccessful. Even though they were crouched behind the boards, the athletes were identified by the referee and warned with a yellow card along with the other teammates who participated in the celebration.

In total, 12 CRB players were booked after the play. In the summary, Wagner Magalhães justified the warnings by stating that the athletes "left their technical area and crossed the playing field to celebrate their team's goal".

Goalkeeper Fábio Henrique, full-back Reverson, defenders Bressan and Wallace, midfielders Patrick de Lucca and Luizão, midfielder Pedro Castro, midfielder Guilherme Estrella and attackers Thiaguinho, Dadá Belmonte, Vinícius Barata and Guilherme Pato received cards.

The punishment had an immediate impact on the team from Alagoas. Guilherme Estrella, Guilherme Pato, Bressan and Dadá Belmonte were suspended and will be suspended in the next round of Series B, against Cuiabá.

By rule, referees can issue a yellow card to players and members of the coaching staff who invade the pitch or promote celebrations considered excessive.

After the match, the president of the CRB, Mário Marroquim, took over the press conference and harshly criticized the refereeing.

"You are a lazy judge. You have already harmed the CRB several times. It is not the first time, but I guarantee you that as long as I am president, I will do everything to ensure that you do not come to drink coconut water here and see the beaches of Alagoas", stated the leader.

Moroquim also complained about the effect of the cards on the competition sequence.

"You managed to yellow our entire team. And what you did now will have negative repercussions in one, two, three rounds, because you suspended everyone. You took away players from us in this round and in the others. You allow the anti-game and the problem is that you are a lazy judge. Retire, boy", he added.

With the comeback victory at Rei Pelé, CRB reached 14 points and occupies eighth place in Series B.
