Crash between bus and truck leaves one dead and 15 injured on SP highway

A traffic accident involving a truck and a bus left one dead and 15 injured, in the early hours of this Wednesday (1st), on Rodovia Presidente Dutra. The crash occurred at km 186, in Santa Isabel, and the victims were taken to different medical units in the region.

According to the SSP-SP (Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo), the fatal victim was 71 years old and was the driver of the bus, which carried around 20 passengers.

In a statement, the ministry reported that, of the 15 victims, 11 had minor injuries.

Federal highway police officers also found that the public transport had collided with the back of the truck that was traveling along the highway. But investigations into the dynamics of the accident are ongoing.

The 39-year-old truck driver was not injured and underwent a breathalyzer test, which confirmed a negative result for the presence of alcohol in his blood. Nine fire engines responded to the scene.

The expert was called in and the case was registered as culpable homicide while driving a motor vehicle and culpable bodily injury while driving a motor vehicle.

CNN Brasil asked CCR, the concessionaire that manages the road, for more information about the accident and the situation for traffic on the highway, but there has still been no response. The space remains open.
