The parents, in their 30s, called emergency services "after they found their 15-month-old twin daughters unconscious in their beds," the Public Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.
An autopsy should "determine the circumstances of the two girls' deaths" and, in particular, "the possibility of dehydration due to high temperature recorded in the room" of the family's residence in Beuvrages, in northern France, according to the MP.
The couple's other four children, aged 3, 4, 5 and 6, were hospitalized for dehydration, but are out of danger, according to a source close to the investigation.

The door to the family's home is sealed with the information that a crime of "deprivation of care that caused the death of children under 15 years of age" was committed.
