Couple arrested for mistreatment and false imprisonment of four minors in GO
A man and a woman were arrested red-handed on Monday afternoon (6), in Aparecida de Goiânia (GO), for mistreatment, false imprisonment and abandonment against a three-month-old baby and three teenagers, aged 12, 14 and 17 - one of them with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).
The two are a couple. The woman is the mother of all the children, and the suspect is the father of three of them and the stepfather of the teenager with ASD.
The minors were rescued by the Municipal Civil Guard. At the scene, two of the teenagers were found locked in a windowless room in an unsanitary condition, requiring the door to be broken down to be rescued.
The residence also did not have enough food. One of them was found with the bones in the chest region visible, in clear signs of malnutrition.
According to the record, the 14-year-old teenager, with ASD, is a beneficiary of the Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC). Investigations indicate that the suspects benefited from the condition to use the financial resources allocated to him.
After the rescue, the four minors were taken to the hospital. The three teenagers remained hospitalized due to malnutrition. The three-month-old baby also received medical attention and was later sent to the protection network.
The Aparecida Social Assistance Secretariat informed that they will be taken to the municipality's reception units, with all the necessary assistance, psychological and specialized medical support.
The ministry also reinforced that the case continues to be monitored by the child and adolescent protection network, together with other competent bodies, ensuring full protection and guaranteeing the rights of victims, as established by the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA).
When contacted, the Civil Police reported that the couple chose to remain silent during the testimony. The two remain in prison, charged with appropriating property from a disabled person; and, child abuse, kidnapping and false imprisonment.
