Correios records a loss of R$3.1 billion in the first quarter of 2026

Correios recorded a loss of R$3.1 billion in the first quarter of 2026, according to a balance released by the state-owned company this weekend. The loss in the first three months of this year is 82.3% greater than that seen in the same period last year, when the state-owned company recorded a loss of R$1.7 billion. A preliminary balance anticipated by g1 in April this year already showed that the postal service would have a loss of over R$3 billion in the first quarter of 2026. In the entire year 2025, the loss was R$8.5 billion and the forecast for 2026 is for an even worse result in the accounts, according to calculations by the state company itself. Correios has taken a series of measures to clean up its accounts and plans to reach a surplus only in 2027.
