Correios postpones branch closures and changes to bonuses until July 31
The Brazilian Post and Telegraph Company, Correios, decided to postpone until July 31, 2026 the implementation of measures in its restructuring plan, such as the closure of branches and changes in the remuneration of attendants.
The suspension was communicated this Tuesday (7) in a letter sent to the National Federation of Workers in Post and Telegraph and Similar Companies (FENTECT) after unionists contested the impacts of changes.
In the document, the state-owned company proposes the creation of a negotiation table to discuss the suspended points until the end of the month (see details below).
Correios is facing an economic-financial crisis, which began in mid-2022. The company recorded a loss of R$3.1 billion in the first quarter of 2026, according to a balance released by the state-owned company in June.
To stop the deficit and seek fiscal rebalancing - with the internal goal of returning operating in the black -, the state-owned company's board of directors drew up a restructuring plan focused on three fronts: cutting personnel and administration expenses, asset optimization and renegotiation and fundraising.
