Even with an adverse score, Filhos do Terrão qualified for the knockout stages of the national tournament in eighth place with 29 points - eight wins, five draws and six defeats - 31 goals scored and 25 conceded.

In addition, the Parque São Jorge club once again lost a match in the category for the first time since May 19, when they were beaten by Palmeiras, 1 x 0, at Fazendinha, in the first phase of the national competition. Since then, there have been five wins (Mirassol, Avaí, Portuguesa Santista, Vitória and Cruzeiro) and three draws (Red Bull Bragantino, Flamengo and Santos) - 18 goals scored and nine conceded.

Timão's opponent in the quarter-finals of the Brasileirão U20 will be Palmeiras, who were the overall leaders of the first phase with 44 points. The CBF should release the dates and times of the two Derbys in the next few hours. The games should take place on the 8th and 15th of July. The Barra Funda team will play the second game at home as they have the best campaign in the competition.

In this mid-week game against the team from Rio Grande do Sul, Alvinegro also suffered its first away defeat of the season - Copinha is not included in the count, as the matches are on a neutral field. Before that, the last setback had been in September 2025, when they lost to Santos, by a score of 3 x 1, in Vila Belmiro, in the second leg of the round of 16 of the state.

Corinthians, from the games against Palmeiras in the quarter-finals of the Brasileirão U20, has the Campeonato Paulista category as its priority. Next Sunday (5), at 11am (Brasília time), Timão will host Sertãozinho, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, for the fourth round of the first phase of the state championship.
