During the afternoon of last Wednesday (17), Corinthians hosted Vitória, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, in a duel valid for the 16th round of the first qualifying phase of the 2026 Brazilian Under-20 Championship, and beat the opponent by the score of 2 x 1. Alvinegro's goals were scored by midfielder Luiz Gustavo Bahia and striker Luiz Fernando 'Luizinho'. With the result, Filhos do Terrão reached 25 points in the table - seven wins, four draws and five defeats - 27 goals scored and 21 conceded.

The triumph, in addition to placing the Parque São Jorge club within the knockout classification zone - G8 of the Brasileirão -, made Timãozinho reach a sequence of four consecutive victories for the first time since May 2024. On that occasion, led by coach Danilo, Timão's idol, Alvinegro beat: EC São Bernardo (F - 1 x 0), Água Santa (C - 2 x 0), São Caetano (F - 3 x 1) and Goiás (C - 1 x 0). The first three games were valid for the category's Paulistão and the last, on the other hand, for the Brazilian Championship.

Corinthians' current streak began on June 5, when they beat Mirassol, in the interior of São Paulo, 1 x 0, in the debut of the Campeonato Paulista category. Last Wednesday (10), they beat Avaí by the score of 6 x 2, at Fazendinha, in the Brasileirão. And, last Saturday (13), they beat Portuguesa Santista, also at home, 2 x 0, in the second round of the state championship, until beating Vitória on the afternoon of last Wednesday (17).

After beating Vitória, at home, in the Brasileirão U20, Corinthians maintains its focus on the national competition. This is because, next Saturday (20), they will face Cruzeiro, at CT Toca da Raposa, away from home, in the 17th round of the first phase of the tournament. A positive result could bring Timão closer to qualifying for the quarter-finals.
