Corinthians U20 achieves this feat after more than two years

Corinthians hosted Avaí, on the afternoon of last Wednesday (10), at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, in a match valid for the 15th round of the classification phase of the 2026 Brazilian Under-20 Championship, and won by the score of 6 x 2. Filhos do Terrão's goals were scored by Luiz Fernando 'Luizinho' (twice), Luiz Fabio 'Favela', Joãozinho, Guilherme Pellegrin and Iago Machado.

The result saw the Parque São Jorge club jump to tenth place in the national tournament with 22 points - six wins, four draws and five defeats - 25 goals scored and 20 conceded. In addition to the triumph, Alvinegro once again scored six goals in a game for the first time in more than two years.

Previously, the last time was in January 2024, when they beat CRB, from Alagoas, by a score of 6 x 0, in Marília, in the round of 16 of that year's Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. Timãozinho, it's worth remembering, ended that campaign with the cup in hand, after beating Cruzeiro, 1 x 0, at Neo Química Arena.

For the category's Brasileirão, Alvinegro had not found the net six times in the same match since September 2021, when they beat Bahia, by the score of 7 x 1, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha. The duel even marks the highest number of goals for Timaozinho in the history of the category's national tournament.

The Parque São Jorge club also managed to amend two consecutive victories in the category for the first time since April. On that occasion, they beat Criciúma and São Paulo, both away from home, by scores of 2 x 1 and 1 x 0, respectively. Timão won again at Parque São Jorge after almost four months and also ended the negative sequence of three games in the category's Brasileirão.

Corinthians U20 returns to the field this Saturday (13th), at 3pm (Brasília time), to face Portuguesa Santista, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, in a match valid for the second round of the first phase of the 2026 Paulista U20 Championship.
