Forward Yuri Alberto, from Corinthians, gave an interview to Conmebol Libertadores' social media and spoke about the importance of a professional athlete undergoing psychological treatment. The center forward commented that, unlike in the past, the topic is treated among players with a less stereotypical view and more naturally.
"This is quite important, because I think that in football there is still a lot of this barrier. Because you say: 'I'm going to go to therapy, I'm going to see a psychologist', they say: 'this guy is crazy'. There's still this prejudice, but I think it's very important. Because sometimes I complain about not having started sooner, it's very important for us to be able to have that balance in the good times, for us to have that same balance in the bad times. And also to be able to have that balance and that very good mindset so that we can get through these moments."

He also adds: "It's becoming a little more natural (this topic among players). Here at the club we also have our psychologist, Anahy (Couto), who helps us a lot, also helps us a lot. I have my own private one, who helps me too. But, it's important that we have this within a club now and that it's a more normal, more natural stop. All clubs can have access to this treatment."
It is worth remembering that, in 2024, Corinthians' number 9 went through an emotionally delicate moment. Without performing on the field, he was called 'stupid' by Alvinegro's coach at the time, Mano Menezes, during the defeat to São Bernardo FC, away from home, in the Campeonato Paulista that year. In subsequent interviews, the player made it clear that he did not like the way the coach referred to him, but that the event had already been overcome by both sides.
Yuri Alberto arrived at Corinthians in mid-2022, initially on loan from Zenit, in Russia. At the beginning of 2023, he was signed permanently in a negotiation that involved five players - Ivan, Robert Renan, Du Queiroz, Gustavo Mantuan and Pedrinho. Since then, there have been 82 goals and 23 assists in 236 games (202 as a starter), with 105 wins, 61 draws and 70 defeats - 53.11% success rate.
He is the top scorer in the history of the Neo Química Arena, opened in 2014, with 51 goals. Furthermore, Yuri Alberto is also the team's top scorer in the 21st century. In 2024, he enjoyed his best-scoring season of his career, with 31 goals scored - 15 of them in the Brasileirão, in which he was the top scorer and fundamental in the team's rise (from Z4 to Pre-Libertadores).
Last year, he played a decisive role in winning the Campeonato Paulista (2025) and Copa do Brasil (2025), over Palmeiras and Flamengo, respectively, scoring goals in both finals. At the beginning of 2026, he left his mark against Flamengo in the Brazilian Super Cup. This year, he has six goals and four assists in 29 matches - the team's top scorer this season.
