Corinthians striker equals the 2025 mark and consolidates himself as the U20's top scorer

Corinthians' impressive 6-2 victory over Avaí, achieved last Wednesday in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, kept alive the black and white team's hope of qualifying for the next phase of the competition. In addition to the positive result, the match was also special for Luiz Fernando, who scored two goals in the match.

With the goals scored against the team from Santa Catarina, the striker reached an important milestone in his career in the youth categories. The player reached ten goals in the 2026 season and isolated himself as Corinthians Under-20's top scorer of the year.

The number becomes even more relevant when compared to last season's performance. In 2025, Luiz Fernando also scored ten times, but needed 39 matches to reach the milestone. This year, he reached the same total after just 20 games played.

Known internally by the nickname Luizinho, the striker began to play an even more relevant role in the team led by William Batista. In 2026, he established himself as one of the team's offensive references, playing preferably on the right side of the attack and even taking responsibility for penalty kicks, a role previously performed by the Bahia midfielder.

Left-handed, Luiz Fernando's main characteristics are speed, the ability to accelerate in short spaces and intensity during the 90 minutes. The young man usually plays wide on the sides of the field, exploiting his physical strength and ability to repeat efforts to contribute both offensively and defensively.

The striker's performance had already caught the attention of the professional department previously. In 2024, he participated in activities with the main squad under the command of Ramón Díaz and was included among those listed for a match against Cruzeiro, played in November of that year.

Currently 18 years old, the player has a contract with Corinthians valid until December 2027. Born in 2007, he still has two more seasons of eligibility in the youth categories, including the possibility of playing in two other editions of the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.

Looking to further expand his numbers this season, Luiz Fernando should continue to be available to the coaching staff for Timãozinho's next commitment.

The team returns to the field this Saturday, June 13th, at 3pm, when they face Portuguesa Santista at Fazendinha. The duel will be valid for the second round of the Paulista Under-20 Championship.
