Corinthians seeks the longest undefeated streak in the Under-20s since 2022 in a decisive duel for the Brazilian Championship

Corinthians U20 enters the field this Wednesday (1st), at 3pm (Brasília time), to face Juventude, at the Rio Grande do Sul team's Training Center, in the last round of the first phase of the category's Brazilian Championship. In addition to competing for a place in the quarter-finals, Timãozinho can reach a milestone it hasn't achieved in four years: completing nine consecutive matches without defeat.

The team led by William Batista is experiencing its best moment of the season and arrives on the back of an eight-game unbeaten streak. The series began on May 28, when they drew 3 x 3 with Red Bull Bragantino, in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship.

After that, Corinthians beat Mirassol, Avaí, Portuguesa Santista, Vitória and Cruzeiro consecutively. In the two most recent matches, they drew with Flamengo and Santos, maintaining their positive streak on the eve of the decisive round of the national competition.

If they avoid defeat against Juventude, Timãozinho will equal a run of nine unbeaten matches, something that hasn't happened since 2022. On that occasion, under Danilo's command, the team accumulated four wins and five draws between commitments in the Brazilian Championship and the Campeonato Paulista U20.

Before that, the last similar period had been recorded in 2018, when Corinthians remained nine games without losing, a campaign marked by seven wins and two draws during the category's State Championship.

In addition to the possibility of reaching the historic milestone, the duel against Juventude is essential for qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. Corinthians currently occupies eighth place, with 29 points, a position that closes the qualifying zone for the knockout stages.

A victory mathematically guarantees a place among the eight best in the competition and can even make the team move up to fourth place, depending on the parallel results of the round.

In the event of a draw, Timão will continue to be in a favorable position, but it will still depend on the other results. To overtake the São Paulo team, Flamengo, currently in ninth place, would need to win their commitment by a large goal difference to reverse the deficit, the main tiebreaker criterion between the teams.

The clash also represents the opportunity for Corinthians to return to the knockout stages of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship after two seasons. In 2024 and 2025, the club ended its participation in 18th and 15th place, respectively, leaving it out of the title race.
