Corinthians scores at the end with Luizinho and beats Vitória, at home, in the Brasileirão U20

On the afternoon of this Wednesday (17), Corinthians hosted Vitória, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, in a match valid for the 16th round of the first qualifying phase of the 2026 Brazilian Under-20 Championship, and won 2 x 1. Alvinegro's goals were scored by midfielder Luiz Gustavo Bahia and striker Luiz Fernando 'Luizinho'. With the result, Timão jumps to eighth place with 25 points - seven wins, four draws and five defeats - 27 goals scored and 21 conceded. Only the top eight go to the knockout stages.

Coach William Batista chose to start the match with: Matheus Corrêa; Guilherme Pellegrin (Pedro Thomas), Yago Melo, Lorenzo (Levy Dias) and Joãozinho; Luiz Gustavo Bahia, Luiz Eduardo (Caraguá) and Gui Amorim (Christian Oliveira); Gustavo Corrêa (Guilherme Pires), Luiz Fernando 'Luizinho and Luiz Fábio 'Favela' (Nicolas Araújo).

After facing Vitória, at home, in the Brasileirão U20, Corinthians maintains its focus on the national competition. This is because, next Saturday (20), they will face Cruzeiro, at CT Toca da Raposa, away from home, in the 17th round of the first phase of the tournament.

First half

In the first minutes of the match between Corinthians and Vitória, the northeastern team gave the ball away looking for the offensive field and Timãozinho scored strongly. At 40 seconds, Yago Melo protected a ball along the baseline after an attempted deep attack on the left. Two minutes into the game, Vitória got a free kick from the left midfield and the Corinthians defense cleared it away.

In the remainder, the northeastern team faced danger on the left side of the attack, but Yago Melo cleared it away. Alvinegro responded with a counterattack. Luiz Fábio was activated by Gui Amorim in depth. Shirt 9 left Luizinho free on the left, Shirt 11 came face to face with the goalkeeper and wasted the chance!

Soon afterwards, two other changes to Timão: Lorenzo and Gui Amorim left the pitch for Levy Dias and Christian Oliveira, respectively. When the timer reached 45 minutes, five more were added. The opponent even tried to press, but Alvinegro withstood the pressure and with a firm marking won the triumph! At 50, game over! Corinthians 2 x 1 Victory!
