Corinthians publishes contract termination with Under-20 striker agreed with Series B club

Corinthians made another move involving athletes from the youth categories official. This Thursday, the name of 19-year-old striker Rodrigão appeared in the CBF's Daily Newsletter (BID) with the termination of his contract registered, ending his time at the São Paulo club. The player's destination will be Ceará.

The transfer was completed without payment being made to Corinthians. Even so, the club preserved a stake in any future negotiations, remaining with 30% of the athlete's economic rights. The other 70% now belongs to Ceará. The negotiation was initially announced by journalist Victor Godoy, from Rádio TMC.

The striker's departure is part of a policy adopted by Corinthians' training department, currently led by Erasmo Damiani. The idea is to direct athletes who are not among the category's priorities to other clubs, allowing them to receive more playing opportunities without Timão completely losing the rights to their future businesses.

Although he participated in this year's Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior and received minutes in some matches in the competition, Rodrigão saw his space diminish over the following months. His farewell to the pitch with the black and white shirt took place on April 16, when he was called into action during the second half of the goalless draw against Santos, in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship.

Currently, the technical committee led by William Batista has invested in other names to form the team's attack. Young Nícollas, just 17 years old, took on a leading role in the sector, while Wilker, also from the 2008 generation, started to gain more space in the last few matches. Another alternative in the cast is Drude, who continues to recover physically after undergoing surgery and has a contract valid only until July.

A native of the capital of São Paulo, Rodrigão arrived at Corinthians in 2022 to reinforce the Under-15 category. During his training at the club, he gained prominence mainly in the Under-17s, a performance that later earned him opportunities in the Under-20s team.

In total, the striker ends his career at Parque São Jorge with 61 games played in the youth categories. There were 47 performances for the Under-17s and another 14 for the Under-20s. During this period, he scored eight goals, all of them scored while playing for Corinthians' youth team.
