Corinthians overtakes Grêmio in the under-17 Brasileirão

Corinthians went to the field, this Tuesday afternoon (09), and beat Grêmio 7-0, in a match valid for the 3rd round of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. With the result, Filhos do Timão momentarily took the lead in the competition. The goals were scored by Miguel Moscardo (2x), Lucca Caramico (2x), Leo Amistá, Leo Rodrigues and Ronaldo Henrique.

Coach Guilherme Nascimento chose the following team to start the match: Alencar, Brenno Augusto, Estevão Balarin, Ronaldo Henrique and Wendel; Ji-Paraná, Lucca Caramico and Leo Amistá; Matheus Rocha, Leo Rodrigues and Miguel Moscardo.

The reserve bench had the following options: Thiago Amaral, Guarnieri, Felipe Aguirra, Nathan, Rafael Luiz, Rhyan Ladeira, Thiago Coelho, Luan Banhado, Sales, Piracicaba, Lucão and Jerry Vinicius. The opponent took to the field with: João Vitor, Kenay, Calai, Mateus Sergio and Sedorko; John, Sulivan and Victor Malta; Lucas Barros, João Pedro and Rhyan.

How was the game?

Lethal from start to finish, Corinthians showed great pace in the game from the opening minutes and gave Grêmio no chance. 10 minutes into the first half came Corinthians' first big chance. Lucca Caramico hit a cross for a good save from the goalkeeper, on the rebound, Leo Rodrigues tried to send it into the goal and the ball hit the foot of the post and went out.

Timão opened the scoring a few minutes later, in the 14th minute of the first half, with a beautiful cross finish from number 9 Miguel Moscardo. In a fulminant counterattack from the right wing, the center forward beat the marking on the run and hit low, seeing the ball still touch the post before dying in the back of the goal.

Just a minute after opening the scoring, Corinthians extended the lead with Lucca Caramico, in a beautiful individual play. Moscardo collided with the Grêmio defender, and the number 8 dribbled twice inside the penalty area and finished in the bottom right corner, with no chance for the rival goalkeeper.

In the 22nd minute, Miguel Moscardo found the net again, this time, finishing with his left foot, with a cross shot that deflected off Grêmio's defense and slowly found the net. Closing the first half with a rout, Leo Amistá scored a beautiful goal to increase the score to 4-0. Already inside the penalty area, the number 10 hit firmly to further consolidate the Corinthians' excellent game.

In the second stage, Timão came back electric, and increased the lead to 5-0 with Leo Rodrigues. In a great move by the number 11, he charged from the left to the middle and finished, with a deflection, with no chance for the goalkeeper. After that, Filhos do Terrão just managed the match, controlling the game very well and without being unlucky.

In the 31st minute of the game, defender Ronaldo Henrique added a penalty, and seven minutes later, Lucca Caramico scored his second goal of the match, and the seventh goal for the Black and Whites on Tuesday afternoon.

With three games played, Corinthians has two wins and a draw, and is momentarily taking the lead in the under-17 Brasileirão. The table situation may change throughout the round, depending on the other games that will be played. Timão reached the 3rd round in 4th place, behind Palmeiras, Fluminense and Fortaleza, all with 6 points in two games. After the defeat against Grêmio, the team led by Guilherme Nascimento travels to face São Caetano, for Paulistão under-17, on Saturday (13).
