Corinthians midfielder plays in Peru's victory over Brazilian opponents in the World Cup

André Carrillo entered the field on Friday night to represent the Peruvian team in an international friendly. The Corinthians player participated in Peru's 2-1 victory over Haiti, in a match held at the Nu Stadium, located in Miami, in the United States.

Selected among the starters by coach Mano Menezes, the experienced 34-year-old midfielder also had the responsibility of wearing the captain's armband during the match.

Despite the positive result for the Peruvians, Carrillo ended up unintentionally participating in the play that led to the Haitian goal. When trying to play, the athlete lost possession of the ball to Bellegarde, who took advantage of the error to start the counterattack. Following the play, Isidor received the ball and finished to open the scoring for Haiti.

The Peruvian reaction happened before the break. In the 36th minute, Garcés took advantage of a free kick inside the area after a corner kick to leave everything equal. Shortly after, at 38, Vélez completed the turnaround and guaranteed the South American team's advantage.

Carrillo also had the opportunity to score. In the 28th minute of the opening half, the player appeared in good condition to finish, but had his attempt interrupted by Delcroix's marking.

The athlete remained on the field until 13 minutes into the second half. Before being substituted, he received a yellow card for interrupting a quick advance by the opposing team.

As Peru was unable to qualify for the World Cup, the team will continue to use the period to play friendlies. The next match will be against Spain, on Monday, in Puebla, Mexico.

Haiti is now preparing for its second participation in a World Cup. The Caribbean team will be part of Group C of the tournament alongside Brazil, Scotland and Morocco. The duel against the Brazilians is scheduled for June 19th, at 9:30 pm, at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey.
