Corinthians makes payment and ends pending dispute with Talleres over the signing of Rodrigo Garro

Corinthians completed the payment to Talleres, from Argentina, regarding the signing of midfielder Rodrigo Garro. The amount transferred was US$7 million net (approximately R$35.7 million at current exchange rates) and closes the possibility of a new transfer ban imposed by FIFA. According to an investigation by Central do Timão, the amount was made possible through a loan taken out by the club from the company Outfield, specialized in credit operations.
In an official statement signed by president Osmar Stabile, Corinthians confirmed the discharge and highlighted the end of the impasse as a milestone in the relationship between the parties. The note also mentioned the president of Talleres, Andrés Fassi, highlighting the conduct of the negotiations.

According to information already released, the São Paulo club had not been able to meet the previous deadline established for payment, which expired last Tuesday. Still, the boards reached a new understanding while moving through the bureaucratic steps, including the formalization of digital signatures.
ESPN reported that Corinthians and Talleres signed an agreement last Thursday that made the debt settlement official. The outcome was possible after direct alignment between the two administrations, unlocking the situation that had been dragging on for months.
The debt is related to FIFA's February 2025 decision, which condemned the Brazilian club to pay US$3.6 million (around R$18.7 million at the time). Since then, Corinthians has sought to reverse the punishment with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to avoid further sanctions. Negotiations were held up for a prolonged period, also influenced by institutional wear and tear linked to the previous management, responsible for hiring Garro in 2024, and by the Talleres board.
Faced with financial pressure, Corinthians structured an operation with the company Outfield to assume the debt with the Argentine club. The proposal was approved by the Guidance Council (Cori) and the Deliberative Council (CD).
With operation costs and interest included, the total amount that Corinthians must pay to the company rises to US$8.5 million (approximately R$44 million), paid in 26 monthly installments. The contract also provides for a CDI rate plus 1% per year, which is currently equivalent to around 15.4% per year. As a guarantee of the agreement, future revenues from broadcasting rights and advertising signs were linked to the financial operation.
Despite the completion of the payment to Talleres, the club still faces difficulties in balancing its cash flow. In addition to the dispute resolved with the Argentine club, Corinthians recently returned to appear on FIFA's transfer ban list due to debts with the Philadelphia Union, relating to the signing of José Martínez, and was also convicted in another case involving New York City FC, related to the extension of Talles Magno's loan.
At the beginning of May, CAS also ordered the São Paulo club to pay more than R$6 million to Midtjylland, from Denmark, for failing to comply with the agreement in the negotiation of midfielder Charles, closed in 2024.

This moment represents much more than a simple closing of accounts.
