Corinthians knows details of clashes against Palmeiras for the Under-20 Brasileirão

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) made official, on Friday night, the dates and times of the quarter-finals of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. Qualified for the knockout stage, Corinthians will face Palmeiras in another chapter of the São Paulo classic at base.

The first duel between the teams will take place on July 8th, a Wednesday, at 3 pm, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha. The decisive clash will be held a week later, on July 16, a Thursday, at 4 pm, at Arena Barueri, where the rival will have control of the field.

To reach the quarter-finals, Timãozinho had a campaign of eight wins, five draws and six defeats, finishing the first phase with 29 points. Palmeiras, in turn, ended the qualifying stage in first place, totaling 44 points, with 13 wins, five draws and just one setback, suffered in the final round against Cuiabá, in a game in which they used a modified team.

Corinthians' recent record against their rival in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, however, is not favorable. In 2022, the black and white club ended up defeated by Palmeiras in the tournament's final, played at the Neo Química Arena. In 2023, Timãozinho once again crossed paths with their arch-rivals, but were eliminated in the semi-finals after losing by an aggregate score of 6-1.

In the following two seasons, Corinthians did not even manage to advance to the knockout stages of the national competition, although they faced Palmeiras during the classification phase and were defeated in the clashes.

Before starting the quarter-finals of the Brasileirão U20, the team led by William Batista still has a commitment for the Campeonato Paulista in the category. This Sunday, at 3pm, Timãozinho hosts Sertãozinho, in Fazendinha, for the fifth round of the State Championship.
