Corinthians identifies André's profile amid the search for recovery

The Corinthians technical committee, headed by Fernando Diniz, identified the profile of midfielder André, who is not having a good time wearing the black and white shirt. The 19-year-old had a minor performance in the 1-0 victory over Atlético, last Sunday (24).

Diniz and his assistants understand that André benefits when the game is open, with a field to cover. The internal diagnosis is that the midfielder has difficulty playing in short spaces, both to move and to deal with the opponent's marking when he has the ball at his feet.

The second half of the 1-1 draw with Peñarol, from Uruguay, in the fifth round of the Copa Libertadores, is used as an example. On that occasion, in Montevideo, André grew in production when the match was marked by an intense "win and lose", generating many transitions and attacks at speed.

"André played very well, especially in the second half. He played very well on the defensive side, he played often on the offensive side. And the game, when it becomes more open, favors André. He has a lot of live energy, he has a lot of good technique and the spaces are smaller. He has a bright future ahead of him. He is a player who has a very, very big potential", commented Diniz in a press conference last Thursday (22).

Itatiaia heard that the technical committee has worked daily with André on the issue of performing better in reduced spaces. Diniz likes the player and counts on him, even in the midst of a bad phase.

Since the frustrated negotiation with Milan, André has not returned to his best form for Corinthians. In addition to the drop in performance, the boy was sent off against Palmeiras for an obscene gesture and against Vasco for a heavy foul on Thiago Mendes.

With a contract until the end of 2029, André has played 40 games (25 as a starter) for Corinthians, with five goals scored.

Like Yuri Alberto, Hugo Souza and Breno Bidon, André could leave the club in the mid-year transfer window. This season, the athlete aroused interest from Italian clubs, such as Milan, Internazionale and Juventus.
