Corinthians hosts Open Judo 2026 and celebrates record number of participants at Parque São Jorge

Parque São Jorge hosted, last Saturday (30), another edition of Open Judo, an event that brought together athletes of different age groups and technical levels at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium. Integrated into the calendar of the São Paulo Judo Federation (FPJudô), the competition reached the largest number of participants in its history in 2026.

This year's edition featured approximately 2,000 judokas, surpassing the numbers previously recorded and consolidating the tournament as one of the main judo events in the country. Competitors from different regions of the state of São Paulo participated in the competitions, which ranged from grassroots categories to veterans.

Last Tuesday (2), Corinthians TV released a special report showing behind the scenes of the event and highlighting the participation of athletes throughout the day. In addition to the fights, the meeting aimed to promote values traditionally associated with judo, such as discipline, respect, inclusion and personal development.

The competitions were held in the Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Cadet, Junior, Senior, Veterans and Inclusive Judo categories. The format allowed the participation of athletes at different stages of sports training, bringing together children, young people and adults in the same learning and integration environment.

President of the São Paulo Judo Federation, Henrique Guimarães highlighted the importance of holding the event at Corinthians' headquarters and praised the structure made available to receive athletes and the public.

The club's coordinator of the sport, Solange Pessoa, also highlighted the growth of the tournament and the increase in the participation of Inclusive Judo athletes. According to the director, the 2026 edition brought together more than 50 PCD competitors, expanding the category's representation within the competition.

At the end of the competitions, the three best placed in each category received medals, while the teams with the best overall performance were awarded trophies up to tenth place. The closing marked another edition of Open Judo at Corinthians, reinforcing the club's commitment to the development of the sport and the sports training of new athletes.
