Corinthians has the worst net worth in Brazilian football, according to a survey based on 2025 balance sheets

Corinthians appears in last place in the net worth ranking among the main Brazilian football clubs, according to GE, based on financial statements for the 2025 financial year. The black and white club ended the period with a negative net worth of R$ 774.1 million, the worst index among the teams analyzed.
According to the GE survey, net equity represents the difference between all the assets and rights of an institution and the total of its financial obligations. In other words, the indicator shows how much the club would have left if all its assets were used to pay off existing debts.

In the case of Corinthians, the negative result indicates that the value of its assets is not enough to cover all financial obligations. The scenario follows another piece of information recently presented by the club's balance sheet: Timão also has the biggest liabilities in Brazilian football.
Despite Corinthians' delicate financial situation, other clubs appear in the opposite situation in the survey. Athletico leads the national ranking and became the first Brazilian club to surpass the R$1 billion mark in net worth. Even recording a deficit of R$58.1 million in 2025, the club from Paraná ended the year with a net worth of R$1.071 billion.
Flamengo, Bahia, Palmeiras and Cruzeiro appear next, all with positive net worth. The survey also shows that a high level of debt does not necessarily mean negative equity. Flamengo, Palmeiras, Cruzeiro and Internacional, for example, have liabilities in excess of R$1 billion, but still maintain enough assets to overcome their financial obligations.
In addition to Corinthians, other clubs also closed 2025 with negative net worth. Among them are Santos (-R$ 609.3 million), São Paulo (-R$ 536.2 million), Botafogo (-R$ 431.9 million), Fluminense (-R$ 185 million), Grêmio (-R$ 175.2 million), Chapecoense (-R$ 112.5 million), Ceará (-R$ 104.3 million), Coritiba (-R$ 85.9 million), Fortaleza (-R$ 73.4 million) and Sport (-R$ 21.7 million).
