Corinthians goalkeeper experiences another physical problem since returning to the club

During last Saturday (27), Corinthians released a note updating the clinical condition of goalkeeper Lelê, who was diagnosed with tendinopathy in the back of her right thigh, and, therefore, has not been participating in the team's training during the interseason. The archer has had yet another physical problem since her return to Parque São Jorge in 2022.
Lelê arrived at Corinthians in 2016, when Alvinegro had a partnership with Osasco Audax in the sport. In his first stint with the Corinthians shirt, he was instrumental in winning the 2016 Copa do Brasil, Libertadores (2017 and 2019), Campeonato Brasileiro (2018 and 2020) and Campeonatos Paulistas (2019 and 2020). Soon after, he transferred to Benfica, from Portugal, where he played in the 2020/2021 season.

In 2022, the goalkeeper returned to Corinthians and, since then, has been dealing with some injury problems. In his first year after returning, he ended up suffering an injury to his finger, which left him out of the Copa Paulista final against Red Bull Bragantino. At that same moment, she suffered a strain in the collateral ligament in her knee and, as a result, was left out of the Women's Copa América with the Brazilian team.
However, she still managed to end that season with 25 games and with the Copa Paulista and Brasileirão titles in the sport, being elected the best goalkeeper in the national competition in the Bola de Prata Award, from ESPN Brasil. In 2023, the goalkeeper did not suffer any injuries and was on the field in 29 of Brabas' 45 matches, where she was instrumental in winning the Supercopa, Campeonato Paulista, Conmebol Libertadores and Campeonato Brasileiro.
In the year 2024, he experienced one of the biggest dramas of his career. In February of that year, he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee and missed almost the entire season for Brabas, playing just seven games. In fact, he was also left out of the runner-up campaign at the Olympic Games in Paris, France.
In 2025, it returned to operations gradually. In March, he played three matches, but had to leave the field again due to knee pain. Therefore, he only returned to work definitively in August. Last season, he was on the field 18 times, alternating between starters and substitutes, in addition to being part of the Libertadores Femenina champion squad in a decision against Deportivo Cali, from Colombia.
In the current season, Lelê started as a starter in the team until then led by Lucas Piccinato. However, in the Brazilian Super Cup final, against Palmeiras, in March, she suffered a concussion and, following the IFAB (International Football Association Board) protocol, missed the first matches of the Brazilian Women's Championship. When he returned, he regained his starting position, even after a change in technical command - the arrival of Emily Lima. But, in the team's last two matches before the last FIFA Date, it was among the reserves.
It was with the Brazilian team at the last FIFA Date that he had suffered his most recent physical problem. In the 2-1 victory over the United States, at the Neo Química Arena, she was substituted in the 37th minute of the second half after feeling muscle discomfort in her right thigh. She ended up being replaced by Lorena.
With a contract until December, Lelê still has an undefined future at Corinthians. In 183 games for Timão, including the two spells, there are 136 wins, 29 draws and 18 defeats - 79.60% success, in addition to 15 titles won: Copa do Brasil (2016), Copa Paulista (2022), Conmebol Libertadores Feminina (2017, 2019, 2024 and 2025), Brasileirão (2018, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025) and Paulistão (2019, 2020 and 2023)
As Brabas, it is worth remembering, will only return to the pitch on July 17th, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, to face Ferroviária, in the fourth round of the classification phase of the Campeonato Paulista Feminino. At this moment, Alvinegro has four points in three matches and is second in the state.
