In the late afternoon of this Monday (1), Corinthians faced São Paulo, at Estádio do Canindé, in a match valid for the second round of the classification phase of the 2026 Brazilian Under-17 Championship and drew 1 x 1. Timãozinho's goal was scored by midfielder Léo Rodrigues, in the first stage, after an assist from Léo Amistá.

With the result, the Corinthians team reached four points on the national tournament leaderboard. Moments after the final whistle, still on the pitch, 16-year-old goalkeeper Alencar gave an interview to SporTV and celebrated the opportunity at Majestoso. The holder of the position, it is worth remembering, is Gustavo Milani, 17 years old, who has been called up to the Brazilian youth team. The young man also praised Corinthians' goalkeeping training department.

"It was very special. Every time this opportunity appears, when it appears you have to grab it. That's what I say, we have the best goalkeeping department in Brazil. Everyone is prepared, whoever is selected will play well", he began.

Then, he analyzed the draw in the classic Majestoso and projected the sequence of the season with the Campeonato Paulista and Brasileirão disputes in the category: "I think it was the way Corinthians are. Suffering, there's no way to say it. There's no way to describe it, it's just Corinthians suffering, three points belonging to the championship sequence, 17 more rounds there, we'll classify."

"We're going to work normally, we have a lot of games, a lot of sequence, 10 very difficult first games, complicated games, there are the three classics (São Paulo, Palmeiras and Santos), the first 10 games, and it's one step at a time. We have to think about one game for the next, we don't have to think about a game in the seventh round, a game in the seventh round. Our focus now is on Paulista, Saturday, and then Tuesday against Grêmio at home", said.

After facing São Paulo, as hosts, in the national competition, Corinthians resumes its focus on competing in the Paulista Under-17 Championship. Next Saturday (6), Alvinegro will host AD Centro Olímpico, at 11am (Brasília time), at the Ninho do Corvo Stadium. Currently, Filhos do Terrão occupy second place in Group 15 with nine points - three wins and one defeat - 14 goals scored and four conceded.
