Corinthians futsal idol supports Memphis Depay's contract renewal

Deives, one of the biggest names in the history of Corinthians futsal, used his social networks last Wednesday to position himself in favor of Memphis Depay remaining at the club. For the former pivot, the Dutch striker has raised the team's technical level since his arrival and is among the main players on the international scene. Still, he considered that any new agreement needs to respect the financial reality experienced by Timão.

"Anyone who is not in favor of renewing Memphis Depay, for me, is crazy. I understand that no athlete is above the club and that he also has to adapt to the current situation of the club, but a global idol, loved everywhere he goes, changed the technical level of our club with results, with titles, he is a positive leader within the squad... I am very much in favor of this renewal. We have an athlete of that level, top shelf, world top level in our club, and there are people who don't see it as Good eyes on a renewal like this. I'm completely in favor", said Deives in stories published on his Instagram account.

Memphis' current relationship with Corinthians is valid until July 31, 2026. Behind the scenes, the number 10's representatives have already received an official proposal drawn up by the Corinthians board, according to information released by Uol Esporte.

The new offer presented by the club foresees significant changes in relation to the current model. Among them is a reduction in player salaries and a reformulation of the payment structure. The intention is for Corinthians to fully assume the athlete's costs, without depending on resources from sponsors or commercial agreements linked to the contract.

To make the operation financially viable, the board is working on the possibility of negotiating some important assets of the squad. Possible transfers of players such as Yuri Alberto, André Luiz or Breno Bidon could open up space on the payroll and facilitate the Dutchman's maintenance at Parque São Jorge.

Since joining Corinthians in 2024, Memphis has played 79 matches, directly participated in 35 goals and contributed to the winning of three titles with the black and white shirt.

Deives has built a historic trajectory in the club's futsal. Between 2018 and 2025, the former pivot entered the court on 246 occasions, totaling 180 direct participations in goals - including 156 balls in the net and 24 assists -, in addition to winning 16 titles with Timão.
