Corinthians Futsal Down team embarks to compete in the Copa do Brasil

Over the morning of last Wednesday (8), the Corinthians futsal down team embarked to compete in the 2026 Brazilian Futsal Down Cup. Shortly before leaving Parque São Jorge, they paid a visit to president Osmar Stabile's office and then had contact with Timão's professional futsal players at Ginásio Wlamir Marques.

Helinho, coordinator of the sport, highlighted the sporting and social importance of competing in the competition, in addition to the experience of representing Corinthians in a national tournament such as the Copa do Brasil: "It's a feeling of gratitude and victory. We had the opportunity to resume this parasport project at the club in 2026 and we have already participated in the first championship, the Campeonato Paulista, in which we won a place in the Copa do Brasil. The boys' preparation began as soon as we found out about the invitation to compete in the competition in Maceió. We are happy to see the growth of each of them and the Corinthian spirit in everyone when they wear the Corinthians shirt."

The coordinator of the sport also commented on Corinthians' role in increasingly strengthening the sport: "The openness that Corinthians gave us, the strength and support at all levels, from the wardrobe to the presidency, are fundamental. We are leaving here focused and aware of the responsibility of representing Corinthians. It is something great and gratifying to see the joy of these kids", he stated.

Corinthians' futsal down modality returned to activities in 2022, after the stoppage caused by the pause of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project, however, has existed since 2008. The Copa do Brasil will be held between the 9th and 15th of August. Timão will also participate in mini-tournaments in Indaiatuba, Caçapava and Hortolândia, in the interior of São Paulo, during the month of August.

The Brazilian Down Futsal Cup is being resumed for the first time since 2024, as the Brazilian Confederation of Sports for the Intellectually Disabled had suspended the competition in the last two seasons, prioritizing regionalized competition.
