The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Corinthians Deliberative Council ordered the archiving of the disciplinary representations presented reciprocally by the president of the Deliberative Council Romeu Tuma Júnior and by the club president Osmar Stabile. The decision, obtained by Central do Timão and signed last Friday (26) by commission president Leonardo Pantaleão, does not address the merits of the accusations made by both parties. The archiving was based on the absence of sufficient evidence to continue the investigation of the facts.

The representations originated in an episode that occurred at the Parque São Jorge pizzeria, on March 6 of this year, days before the turbulent meeting of the Deliberative Council that would consider the proposal to reform the club's statutes. According to the order, given the identity of the facts narrated, the Commission decided to combine the two procedures into a single instruction, in order to avoid conflicting decisions on the same episode.

The Council meeting, held on March 9, was marked by strong political tension. During the session, Osmar Stabile used the platform to accuse Romeu Tuma Júnior of having threatened him in the club's pizzeria and of trying to interfere in the administration through requests sent to the board.

The statements caused widespread turmoil in the plenary, interrupting the work even before the councilors deliberated on the statutory reform. With the session closed, Tuma invoked article 45 of the black and white statute to directly forward the proposal to the General Assembly of members, later convened for April 14th and immediately suspended by the Court.

Following the institutional crisis, Osmar Stabile filed a request to remove Romeu Tuma Júnior from the presidency of the Deliberative Council. Tuma, in turn, presented a disciplinary representation against the club president, giving rise to the procedure analyzed by the Ethics Committee.

Rationale for archiving

In the order, Leonardo Pantaleão highlights that Osmar Stabile himself informed, when presenting his representation, that he would complement the instruction with the appointment of in-person witnesses to the facts. However, after a period considered sufficient, this supplement was never presented, nor were any other elements added to reinforce the allegations made.

The Commission also sought to obtain images from the club's monitoring system that could help in reconstructing the events. On March 12, a letter was sent to the board requesting recordings from the cameras installed on the third and fifth floors of the headquarters, referring to March 4 and 5, 2026, a request addressed to Osmar Stabile as president of Corinthians.

As there was no response, a new letter was sent on March 26th fully reiterating the request. According to the Commission, despite the two opportunities granted, the images were not sent and no justification was presented for failure to comply with the due diligence.

In the opinion of the president of the Ethics Committee, although the body has its own investigative powers, this does not eliminate the duty of cooperation of the parties involved, especially those who provoke disciplinary action and claim to have elements capable of proving their allegations.

Pantaleão concludes that the absence of the announced witnesses, coupled with the failure to forward the requested images, prevented the formation of a minimum set of evidence to allow the investigation to continue. As both representations dealt with the same factual nucleus and depended on the same evidence, the insufficiency of elements compromised the analysis of both procedures.

The order emphasizes, however, that the archiving "does not reflect recognition of the origin or unfoundedness of the charges", resulting exclusively from the impossibility of forming a safe judgment given the insufficiency of the evidence produced.

Thus, the Ethics Committee ordered the archiving of both representations, without assessing the merits of the reciprocal accusations. The decision also provides that the investigation may be reopened in the future if new, relevant and suitable elements are presented that justify the continuation of the disciplinary investigation.
