Corinthians won again in the National Futsal League (LNF) after a long period of negative results. Last Saturday night (27), the team led by Fernando Malafaia beat Tubarão 3 x 1, at Ginásio Wlamir Marques, in the tenth round of the competition. The black and white goals were scored by Paiva, twice, and Igor Bredof.
The triumph ended a run of seven matches without a win in the main national competition. Furthermore, the result saw Corinthians momentarily rise to 12th place in the table with eight points, entering the playoff classification zone and moving away from the playoff race against relegation.

Timão's last victory in the LNF had taken place on April 3, when they defeated Magnus 2 x 0, also at Ginásio Wlamir Marques. Since then, the club has accumulated two draws and five defeats, experiencing its worst run without victories in the competition since 2023 and preventing the streak from approaching the record set in 2008, when it went ten consecutive matches without winning.
The negative series began on April 18, with a 3-2 defeat to Carlos Barbosa, away from home. Subsequently, Corinthians drew 1 x 1 with Cascavel, at Parque São Jorge, and were defeated again after losing 3 x 2 to Jaraguá, in Santa Catarina.
In the following round, Timão suffered a 3-0 defeat to Praia Clube, at home. Then they were beaten by Atlântico, also 3 x 0, drew 3 x 3 with Santo André/Intelli, at Wlamir Marques, and lost 3 x 2 to Campo Mourão, ending the sequence of seven matches without winning.
Corinthians sequence in the National Futsal League:
- 03/04 | Corinthians 2 x 0 Magnus
- 18/04 | Carlos Barbosa 3 x 2 Corinthians
- 30/04 | Corinthians 1 x 1 Cascavel
- 06/05 | Jaraguá 3 x 2 Corinthians
- 15/05 | Corinthians 0 x 3 Praia Clube
- 23/05 | Atlântico 3 x 0 Corinthians
- 06/08 | Corinthians 3 x 3 Santo André/Intelli
- 21/06 | Campo Mourão 3 x 2 Corinthians
- 27/06 | Corinthians 3 x 1 Tubarão
The period without positive results had a direct impact on the classification. Before the victory over Tubarão, Corinthians occupied 14th place, a position that, according to the new LNF regulations, requires them to compete in a repechage against the third-placed team in LNF Silver. The last two placed teams are relegated directly to the second national division.
With the three points gained against the Santa Catarina team, Timão momentarily left the bottom of the table, reached 12th position and returned to the classification zone for the National League playoffs.
The fast also came close to equaling one of the most delicate moments in the club's recent history in the competition. In 2008, a season that marked Corinthians' return to the elite of the sport through a partnership with the São Caetano do Sul franchise, the team went ten consecutive games without winning between April and May, accumulating seven defeats and three draws, a campaign that ended with elimination in the first phase.
Now, encouraged by the positive result in the LNF, Corinthians turns its attention to the Paulista Futsal Championship. The team's next appointment will be on Tuesday (30), at 8pm, when they host Wimpro Guarulhos, again at Ginásio Wlamir Marques.
