Corinthians duo represents the club in the ideal selection for the first phase of LDB 2026

Throughout this Wednesday (1), the Basketball Development League (LDB) announced on its social networks the ideal quintet for the first stage of the competition, played in Rio Claro, in the interior of São Paulo. Corinthians, led by Wesley Aguiar, was the only team to win all six games of the tournament (Cruzeiro, Instituto Viva Vida, Minas, Basquete Cearense, Brasília and Caxias do Sul).

The wingers Lukinhas (Lucas Cardoso) and Luiggi represented Timão in the selection. The selection, which had the approval of the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC), is completed by Lucas Naka (Caxias do Sul), Lucca Boracina (Pinheiros) and Fernando César (Pinheiros). In the first phase of the LDB, Lukinhas averaged 14.5 points per game, 12.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists, in addition to 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per duel.

In an interview with the official website of the Basketball Development League (LDB), Lukinhas commented on the nomination: "I'm very proud to have achieved this nomination. I always try hard and do my best to help my team, so this is recognition of all this work. Being at LDB gives me a lot of experience to develop myself and my game. I will always do my best, I want Corinthians to go far", he stated.

Luiggi, 22 years old, in turn, obtained 13.6 rebounds (second best mark in the championship) and 27.8 efficiency (highest doctor of the 2026 tournament). The 24 teams that participated in the LDB were divided into two groups, with the matches being played in Rio Claro and Mogi das Cruzes. The 12 teams were further separated into two subgroups made up of six teams. In the first phase, teams only face teams from the opposite subgroup within their bracket.

In the second stage, which will be played between July and August, the games will be between teams from the same subgroup. Corinthians, Pinheiros, Flamengo and Paulistano will host the national competition matches. After the end of both phases, the four best teams in each group will move on to the Gold Series. From there, the national champion will emerge - the contest will take place between the 14th and 19th of September. Teams that finish the tournament between fifth and eighth place qualify for the Silver Series, scheduled to take place between September 12th and 17th.
