Corinthians decided that the men's basketball team will remain active next season. The continuity of the project was confirmed after months of uncertainty, with the closure of the sport being considered amid the delicate financial scenario faced by the club.
The decision to keep basketball at Parque São Jorge will be accompanied by a change in financial planning. As determined, the budget allocated to the modality will be reduced by approximately 30% for the next cycle.

The club had already guaranteed participation in the Campeonato Paulista and subsequently confirmed its registration with the National Basketball League (LNB), ensuring Corinthians' presence in the next edition of Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB).
The possibility of closing the project was discussed by the board. President Osmar Stabile had defended the reduction of expenses involving the social club and sports activities at Parque São Jorge as one of the measures to assist in the financial control of Corinthians, which has a debt of more than R$2.7 billion.
Despite the maintenance of the men's team, women's basketball will not continue. After the runner-up in São Paulo, all the athletes who were part of the squad were released.
In addition to basketball, other club sports are also undergoing budget adjustments. Futsal is one of the areas affected by the cost reduction policy adopted by the board. On the court, the team led by Fernando Malafaia is experiencing a season of instability in the National Futsal League (LNF), with results that have placed the team close to the relegation zone.
Cast undergoes changes and club seeks new commercial agreements
The reduction in investment for next season could directly influence the assembly of the Corinthians squad. The board is working to keep some of the players who played for the club in the 2025/2026 season, but faces competition from other teams in negotiations.
One of the confirmed casualties was that of winger Elyjah Clark. The North American player announced his departure from Corinthians via social media and is expected to play for Minas in the 2026/2027 season. The team from Minas Gerais was even eliminated by Timão in the quarter-finals of the last edition of the NBB.
Another athlete who could leave Parque São Jorge is center Kauan Raymundo. In his second spell at Corinthians, the player gained space over the last few years and became considered one of the main pieces of the black and white project. Kauan arrived at the club in 2022, after a spell at São Paulo.
Even with the expected financial reduction, Corinthians is looking for alternatives to strengthen the sport. The club is negotiating a possible commercial agreement with Fatal Fans, a subscription and content sales platform linked to the Fatal Model Group.
The partnership would involve different Corinthians teams, including men's football, women's football, futsal and basketball. If the contract is signed, the basketball team will be able to count on brand exposure on the uniform.
The agreement could also represent a new source of revenue for the sport. The expectation is that the investment allocated to basketball will be close to R$4 million per season, an amount that would help minimize the effects of the budget reduction and provide greater stability to the project in the coming years.
