Corinthians Cultural Department promotes tribute to Rivellino

The Corinthians Cultural Department, led by director Rafael Castilho, promoted a tribute to Rivellino, the 'King of the Park', in reference to his 80 years of age and 12 years since the inauguration of his bust in Parque São Jorge, which took place on May 24, 2014. The former player, it is worth remembering, was world champion with the Brazilian team in 1970 in Mexico.

At the time of the unveiling of his bust, 'Riva' gave an interview to the official Corinthians website and spoke about the tribute made by Timão: "It's very gratifying to receive a tribute in life, it's really very meaningful. I think I was one of the only ones who was born here and was world champion in these more than 100 years. During my time at Corinthians I learned to be a Corinthian at heart, I know that I did everything I could within my limitations for this club and today I am being immortalized as a form of gratitude for my presence over all these years."

Revealed in the youth categories of Corinthians, Rivellino won four titles with the Timão shirt: Copa Cidade de Turim (1966), Torneio Rio-São Paulo (1966), Torneio do Povo (1971) and Torneio Laudo Natel (1973). In addition, there were 144 goals in 475 games (467 as a starter), with 239 wins, 136 draws and 100 defeats - 59.86% success rate.

On his Instagram account, Rafael Castilho commented on the tribute given to Rivellino: "I had the immense honor and privilege of being received by Roberto Rivellino, in his home, one of the greatest football players of all time on planet Earth. Just imagine how I felt. Rivellino was extremely kind. A simple and generous person. Long live Roberto Rivellino. Go Corinthians!"
