Corinthians held a consultation for 29-year-old midfielder Arthur Melo, but the possibility of signing the player for the next transfer window is considered unlikely at this time. Information about the initial interest was released by journalist Samir Carvalho and subsequently investigated by Central do Timão.
According to Central do Timão, the club contacted the athlete's staff to understand the contractual situation and the conditions of a possible transfer. However, Corinthians did not open negotiations nor made any progress towards an official proposal.

The main obstacle was the financial issue. After becoming aware of the midfielder's desired salary figures, the board assessed that the request was far above the club's financial reality and chose not to continue the conversations.
Arthur returns to Juventus after playing for Grêmio on loan during the first part of the season. The midfielder's contract with the Italian club lasts until June 2027, but the player will not remain at Tricolor Gaúcho.
According to published information from Rio Grande do Sul, Grêmio tried to keep Arthur in the squad and presented a renewal proposal with a salary in the house. The athlete, however, was looking for a salary increase of more than R$2 million per month, a factor that made staying in Porto Alegre unfeasible.
This scenario was also decisive for Corinthians to back down after the initial consultation. Given the club's financial situation, the values presented by the player's staff were considered incompatible with the planning for the continuation of the season.
Revealed by Grêmio, Arthur built a career in European football, where he played for Barcelona, Juventus, Liverpool and Fiorentina. The midfielder has also been called up for the Brazilian National Team and won important titles, such as the 2017 Copa Libertadores with the club from Rio Grande do Sul, the Spanish Championship and the Spanish Super Cup with Barcelona, as well as the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup with Juventus.
In the current season, Arthur played 14 matches for Grêmio, ten in the Brazilian Championship and four in the Copa Sudamericana. The midfielder did not score goals or provide assists during the period.
In this way, despite the consultation carried out by Corinthians, the signing of the midfielder should not evolve in this transfer window, as the values involved were considered unfeasible by the black and white club.
