During the Corinthians squad's vacation period, Fernando Diniz took advantage of a commitment other than football. Last Saturday, the coach was present at NBA House, an event held in São Paulo to celebrate the NBA finals, the main basketball competition on the planet.
The visit took place during the broadcast of the fifth match of the decisive series of the North American league. In the match, played at the Frost Bank Center in the United States, the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 and confirmed their championship by closing the series 4-1.

Traditional among Brazilian fans of the sport, NBA House is organized annually by the league itself and brings together attractions related to the world of basketball. The event takes place at Shopping Eldorado, in the capital of São Paulo, offering live broadcasts of the finals, interactive activities and experiences aimed at the public.
In conversation with the NBA House organization, Fernando Diniz also participated in a game and chose his ideal team in the history of the NBA. The Corinthians coach chose Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal to make up the quintet.
The coach's relationship with the event is nothing new. Last year, when he was still working at Vasco da Gama, Diniz was present at an edition held in Rio de Janeiro to watch one of the deciding matches between Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers.
The commander's interest in basketball had already become evident recently. In May, Corinthians received the Larry O'Brien trophy at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, presented to the NBA champion. On the occasion, Diniz participated in the action and posed for photos next to the cup.
The presence at the event was one of the coach's first public appearances since the start of the break in the national calendar for the World Cup. The Corinthians squad went into recess after the 3-1 victory over Grêmio, in Porto Alegre, in the 18th round of the Brazilian Championship, on May 30th.
With activities temporarily suspended, the group will only return to training on June 25th, when they will begin preparing for the rest of the season.
Since assuming technical command of Corinthians, at the beginning of April, Fernando Diniz has led the team in 16 official commitments. During this period, they accumulated nine wins, four draws and only three defeats, recording a 65% success rate. Under his management, Timão scored 20 goals and conceded 12, maintaining an average of more than one goal per match and less than one goal conceded per game.
Before the stoppage, the coach also led Corinthians to an important recovery in the Brazilian Championship. The team left the relegation zone and occupied tenth place in the table. In addition, they qualified for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores, a phase in which they will face Rosario Central, from Argentina. The club also advanced to the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil and will face Internacional.
After the return of activities, the first commitment will be a friendly against FC Cascavel, a team that competes in Series D of the Brazilian Championship. The match is scheduled for July 12th, at the Regional Olympic Stadium, in Paraná.
The return to official games should take place on July 22nd. On this date, Corinthians is scheduled to face Remo, at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the Brazilian Championship.
