The 18th round of the Brazilian Championship ended this Sunday and brought a more favorable scenario for Corinthians in the table. The 3-1 victory over Grêmio, won in Porto Alegre, allowed the black and white team to climb five places in the standings and increase the distance to the clubs that occupy the relegation zone.
With the end of the matches before the World Cup calendar was halted, the team led by Fernando Diniz appears in tenth place, with 24 points. If the championship ended today, the club would guarantee a place in the 2027 Copa Sudamericana.

Internacional and Santos accumulate 21 points and are in the middle part of the table. Grêmio also has 21 points, but occupies the last position outside the relegation zone due to the tiebreaker criteria.
Among the clubs that would currently be relegated, Vasco da Gama opens the Z4 with 20 points. Mirassol and Remo appear close behind, both with 16, while Chapecoense remains in last place in the championship, with just nine points achieved so far.
Now, the Brasileirão will be temporarily interrupted due to the World Cup. During this period, Corinthians will play a friendly against FC Cascavel, scheduled for July 12, at the Estádio Olímpico Regional, in Paraná.
The official resumption of competitions is scheduled for July 22nd. On that occasion, Timão will face Remo at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the 19th round of the Brazilian Championship.
